Step-for-step with Tiger
Tiger Woods
Woods lines up his put on the first green at Valhalla
Follow the progress of Tiger Woods and his chief rivals in the third round of the USPGA Championship at the Valhalla Golf Course, Kentucky.

Click refresh for updates - all times are British Summer Time (five hours ahead of local time)

0015: Woods makes a birdie at the 18th to move out on his own as leader, while Dunlap also birdies to join May on 12 under.

0008: JP Hayes makes birdie at the 18th and finishes on 11 over, keeping him right in contention.

0000: May scrambles his par to keep his share of the lead at 12 under, and Woods rescues his par on the 17th to stay with him. Dunlap, however, drops a shot to fall back to 11 under. The last pair on the course now move on to 18th.

2350: The leading trio show signs of feeling the pressure. May finds the serious rough on the 18th, Woods pushes his drive down the right on the 17th and Dunlap is forced to manufacture a tricky second after finding a dreadful lie with his driver.

2345: Thomas Bjorn, the highest placed European, completes a tidy 67 to put himself in contention at nine under in the clubhouse.

2335: Having pushed his second shot through the green, Woods drops another shot at the 15th to slip back to 12 under and a three-way tie with Dunlap and May.

Tiger Woods
Tiger did not have things entirely his own way
2330: While Appleby falls back with a double bogey at the 15th, fellow Australian Greg Chalmers completes a five-under-par 67 which leaves him on 10 under for three rounds.

2320: Moments after Dunlap saw his drive to the par-three 14th just catch the edge of a bunker, Woods plants his own drive into the same sand trap.

Tiger, however, hit his sand wedge to within six inches of the hole, while Dunlap hit his 20 feet past the pin and misses the comeback put to slip to 12 under.

In the meantime, Bob May birdies the 15th to move to 12 under with Dunlap.

2310: With Woods and Dunlap locked on 13 under after 14 holes, JP Hayes and Bob May move into their rear-view mirrors and join Appleby on 10 under.

Stuart Appleby
Appleby found the water at the 15th
2255: Woods shows his first signs of mortality on the par-four six when he puts his drive into the rough on the left of the fairway and then compounds that error with a dreadful three-put for a double-bogey six.

Dunlap rises to the challenge by sinking his short put for a smart birdie three. Dunlap and Woods are now tied for the lead on 13 under.

2230: Woods' remarkable record on Valhalla's par fives continues as he birdies the tenth to reach 15 under - now three shots clear of Dunlap.

2215: While Tiger continues to move away from the field, Appleby is fast becoming his chief threat. The Australian birdies the ninth and tenth holes to go to 11 under.

Scott Dunlap
Dunlap matched Woods shot for shot early on
2210: Without ever looking at his most fluent, Woods holes a 15-foot put on the 8th to move to 14 under. For the first time today Dunlap cannot match his birdie.

2205: Australia's Appleby, quietly building his own highly impressive round, birdies the ninth to take third place on his own on 10 under par.

2150: Woods and Dunlap continue to match each other shot for incredible shot, as they both birdie the par-five seventh to move on to 13 and 12 under respectively.

Meanwhile, Denmark's Thomas Bjorn birdies the ninth to join the chasing pack on nine under.

2140: A poor third shot to the 18th green ruins Olazabal's chance of scoring 62 - and writing his name into the history books - but he still manages to get down in two puts to card a stunning nine-under-par 63.

2120: Stuart Appleby and Davis Love III join Mickelson and Olazabal on nine under par, only three shots behind the leader Woods.

Phil Mickelson
Mickelson started brightly but fell away
2100: While Woods struggles to find his rhythm in the early holes, Olazabal continues his electric run with yet another birdie on the 16th - he now only needs two fours to card an incredible 62, the lowest ever one-day return in a major.

2045: After pulling his second shot into the rough, Tiger recovers well to hole a 25-foot put for a birdie on the par-five second. Dunlap responds with his own birdie from 10 feet to remain one shot behind - 12 and 11 under par respectively.

2020: The final pairing of Tiger Woods and Scott Dunlap tee off from the first in perfect conditions. Out on the course American Phil Mickelson and Spaniard Jose Maria Olazabal are putting together superb rounds that have propelled both players up the leaderboard.
