Dougie Donnelly
Dougie Donnelly was born in Glasgow and attended the Hamilton Academy before taking a law degree at the University of Strathclyde.

His career in broadcasting began in 1979 when he presented Radio Clyde's mid-morning show.

Dougie is the main presenter of BBC Scotland's sport output, a position held since 1980, fronting Sportscene with its main sports of football and rugby.

In 1992, Dougie joined up as a presenter and reporter with the award-winning BBC Network team that presented the Olympic games from Barcelona and the European Football Championships from Sweden.

In 1996, Dougie took part in the presentation of the same sporting double bill, working on the Euro 96 Championships in England and the centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta.

In early 1996, Dougie presented network coverage of World Championship snooker, bowls and darts, and the Benson & Hedges snooker, all of which he has presented since 1993.

This month, he will cover the BBC's presentation of The Open Championship from St Andrews.

Golf featured regularly on Dougie's 1996 schedule. In addition to The Open, he was involved in the Volvo PGA, the Loch Lomond World Invitation Tournament and the World Match play.

Previous golf presentation for the BBC also included the Benson & Hedges International Open, the British Amateur, the World Match play and the Johnnie Walker World Championship in Jamaica.

Dougie's other BBC Network credits see him regularly fronting a variety of sport productions, including Grandstand.

While he has established himself as a sport presenter his talents as a chat show host were very much praised.

He fronted two series of 'Friday Night with Dougie Donnelly' and a one off television special with Billy Connolly, 'Connolly With Donnelly' both for BBC Scotland.

He is also skilled at presenting promotional events, sales conferences and corporate videos and is in constant demand for after dinner speaking.

Among the companies that have engaged Dougie are General Accident, Royal Mail, Mercury Communications, Scottish Power and British Midland.

Outside of his broadcasting activities, Dougie remains a sports enthusiast and a keen golfer.
