Triple jumper Jonathan Edwards, snooker star Ronnie O'Sullivan, rally driver Richard Burns and sailor Ellen MacArthur all became world champions in their sports this year.

Lennox Lewis will also be riding high after regaining the heavyweight championship of the world with a fourth round knockout in his rematch with Hasim Rahman.

Rowing hero Matthew Pinsent, rugby international Martin Johnson and champion jump jockey Tony McCoy, among many others, will all have support.
