Yorkshire seamer Ryan Sidebottom was in sterling form as he helped England 'A' skittle out Jamaica for just 174 in the Busta Cup.

The 23-year-old took five for 31 on a hard-baked surface in Kingston.

His Yorkshire team-mate Chris Silverwood also got in the act - with three for 52.

Jamaica, who lead the Busta Cup standings, started off well and at lunch had reached 83 for 1.

Catalyst

But they seriously lost their way after lunch.

They lost their last nine wickets for just 89 runs as England 'A' turned the screw.

Chris Gayle top-scored with 56 and Wayne Cuff looked well on his way to a half-century before nicking a catch to Ian Ward for 46.

Jamaica captain Robert Samuels was out for one and that proved the catalyst as the tail collapsed with Courtney Walsh falling for yet another duck.

However, England 'A' found themselves struggling when they batted.

Despite having scored 579 runs int he competition so far, the in-form Ward was out for just two off Franklyn Rose's bowling.

I didn't think I bowled particularly well so I'll take that and am quite pleased
  Ryan Sidebottom
Forced onto the back foot by a short ball from Rose he guided the ball to Cuff at second slip.

His opening partner Michael Powell soon followed when he edged veteran Walsh to wicketkeeper Keith Hibbert.

It left England 'A' rocking on 15-2 but Vikram Solanki and John Crawley steadied the ship and at the end of the first day's play England 'A' had reached 44-2.

Earlier Sidebottom and his county colleague Silverwood shared eight wickets between them, the last five falling in an hour and 10 minutes after tea.

Sidebottom, playing in only his third match of the tournament, forced the Jamaicans into playing their shots.

After struggling to find a consistent line in thjemorning, Sidebottom found form after lunch.

"I got the ball to swing around in the morning but my line was not very good so I was pretty upset, but we had a talk in the dressing room at lunch and the coach told me to get my basics right and follow through properly and after that, it went really well," said Sidebottom.

"I was also quite lucky. I didn't think I bowled particularly well so I'll take that and am quite pleased."
