Phone use under scrutiny
The series involves New Zealand, Sri Lanka and India
International Cricket Council officials are monitoring the use of mobile phones during the triangular one-day tournament in Sri Lanka.
Local cricket officials told Associated Press on Friday that the ICC were keeping a check on phone calls during the series involving Sri Lanka, India and New Zealand. The officials, who refused to be named, said in addition to the mobile phone call monitoring, they also asked the host hotel, Taj Samudra, to keep a log of all phone calls for the players. Lord Condon's report into match-fixing for the ICC, recommended that the use of mobile phones should be restricted during international matches to prevent contact from people trying to fix matches.
