Monty confident for Cup bid
Colin Montgomerie
Monty is bidding for his second title of the season
Ryder Cup stalwart Colin Montgomerie believes this year's European team can offer unprecedented flexibility to captain Bernhard Langer.

"I think, for the first time, that Bernhard can chop and change his team more than other captains have been able to in previous years," the Scot said.

"Being able to do that can only help us come the Sunday (singles matches)."

Meanwhile Darren Clarke had to miss the German Masters pro-am with a sore wrist but insisted it was not serious.

"It is nothing much, just a little tweak, so the physios have strapped it up," he said.

It was a fantastic response from Luke to win straight after being picked
Bernhard Langer
"I caught one a little heavy on the range, everything is fine and I'll be fine for the tournament."

Skipper Langer was delighted that his second wildcard Luke Donald captured the European Masters title last week.

"It was a fantastic response from Luke to win straight after being picked," he said.

"The result could not have been better and it just shows how good a player Luke is, to have only played eight events in Europe this year and won twice."
