Simon Dyson eyes Wales Open success after PGA third

North Yorkshire golfer Simon Dyson is aiming to take his good form at the PGA Championship, where he finished third, to Celtic Manor for the Wales Open.

Dyson said: "In my last four tournaments I've had two top fives so it's been coming.

"I was third or fourth going into the last round [at Celtic Manor] last year. I like the course and if I take my game from the PGA then I've half a chance."

Dyson moved up to 70th in the world rankings with his PGA third place.

"If somebody had said you'd shoot two under, play really good and compete with the world number one and two, I'd be very happy and I was," he said of his final-day battle with Luke Donald and Lee Westwood at Wentworth.

"I drove the ball really well. I only missed three fairways [on the final day] so I was either second or third in driving accuracy there.

"It was nice to do it in such a big tournament like that and be right up there."

Dyson will tee-off at five past one on the first day, alongside Michael Hoey and Welshman Bradley Dredge.
