Darren Clarke will start his 2011 campaign with a return to the Africa Open in East London.

The Ryder Cup vice-captain from Dungannon finished second in the event in South Africa two years ago.

"In 2009 I had a pretty good result and this year's Africa Open sparked a return to form, so I'm looking forward to it," said Clarke.

Belfast player Michael Hoey is also in the field, which includes Retief Goosen and Open champion Louis Oosthuizen.

Clarke, a 12-time European Tour winner, finished the 2010 season ranked 30th after recording four top-10 finishes.

Now back in the world's top 100, he is chasing world ranking points to return to the Majors.

"It's been two years since I won but I am determined to break back and I hope the Africa Open will give me the kind of kick-start it did in 2009," said Clarke.

"It's always great to start the season with a solid result and I'm looking forward to getting on the right track in East London."
