Jamie Donaldson aiming to end season on a high

Jamie Donaldson has enjoyed his best European Tour year in earnings

Jamie Donaldson believes he has a good chance of competing with the best at the Dubai World Championships.

The Welshman qualified for the end-of-season event by finishing 42nd in the Race to Dubai rankings of the top 60 European Tour prize money earners.

Donaldson, 35, cannot win the overall title as he is more than 2,500,000 euro behind leader Martin Kaymer, but can still push for the event itself.

"I've got a good chance," he said after coming seventh at the Hong Kong Open.

"The last two weeks have both been really good. I'm getting better each week on the way that I am playing."

Donaldson qualified for the Championships, which start on Thursday, with a sixth-place finish at the Singapore Open last weekend.

And he propelled himself up to 42nd place at this weekend's Hong Kong Open where he was 17 under par, five shots behind winner, Ian Poulter.

Pontypridd-born Donaldson is already enjoying his best year of golf having earned 722,787 euro on the Tour, more than 120,000 euro than last year, and can add to that in Dubai.

"I played pretty good there [in Dubai] last year because it's so long," he added.

"I hit a decent distance but you've really got to bomb it around there to get a decent score."
