Danielle Masters relishing European tour comeback

Kent golfer Danielle Masters says she cannot wait to return to the Ladies European Tour after a two-year absence.

The Maidstone pro picked up a series of injuries in 2008 and had to return to Tour School in La Manga, Spain, to win back her full playing rights.

"I feel like a rookie I really do," the 27-year-old told BBC Radio Kent, as she prepares to tee-off in Morocco.

"But I cannot wait to get out there and play, hit some good shots and hopefully hole putts."

Masters has been playing on the European Tour since 2004.

In 2006 she finished third in front of the home fans at the Ladies English Open at Chart Hills.

A year later she recorded a career best second at the De Vere Ladies Scottish Open at The Carrick.

But her progress was halted in January 2008 when she damaged her ankle, which led to a back injury and then she developed a problem with her wrist.

Masters, who got married last March, admits many people had written off her career.

"People thinking 'maybe she's a little bit gone now and she enjoys being at home' - that's made me more hungry to prove the point that I am really keen," said Masters.
