Villegas has been a consistent performer round by round

Camilo Villegas goes into the final round of the Honda Classic at Palm Beach with a three-shot lead after a three-under-par third round of 67. That put him 11 under while a three-over round saw joint second-round leader Anthony Kim fall off the pace. Nathan Green and Vijay Singh share second on eight under but an awful back nine put Graeme McDowell four under. The Ryder Cup player began the day well placed but dropped shots at the 10th and 15th and double-bogeyed the 16th. Padraig Harrington shot a two-over round, with a birdie at the 16th and three bogeys to end the day four over.

606: DEBATE

And Rory McIlroy had even more of a day to forget, ending the day a shot behind Harrington. He twice dropped shots on the front nine before pulling them back, then had a disastrous run of bogeys at the 14th and 17th, either side of a six at the par-three 15th. Following back-to-back rounds of 66 on the opening two days, Colombian Villegas maintained his consistency with birdies at the third, fourth, sixth and ninth on a blemish-free outward half. The back nine was slightly more challenging, and he picked up bogeys at the 10th, 12th and 14th, but made up for them with birdies at the 11th and 16th to end the day with an impressive card. Kim's round was derailed by two sudden losses of form, as he carded a double-bogey six and a bogey four at the sixth and seventh holes. Birdies at the 11th and 13th looked to have got things back on track but three successive bogeys to close the round also surely finished off his chances of victory.
