Wales' Rhys Davies could not improve on a promising third round as he finished two shots behind South Korean winner Noh Seung-yul at the Malaysian Open. Davies, 24, was co-leader going into the final round but hit another 71 to finish tied third on 12 under. Teenager Noh won the title in a dramatic finale on the last hole, beating compatriot KJ Choi by one shot. The 18-year-old followed up a superb chip with a four-foot birdie to finish on 14 under after a four-under-par 68. Earlier Choi birdied the 18th to card a three-under 69, but the 39-year-old had to make do with second spot in Kuala Lumpur. Davies, in his first year on the European tour, tied for third with Thailand's Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Denmark's Soren Hansen.

606: DEBATE
|
Although he finished strongly with three birdies on the back nine, he was playing catch up after three bogeys and a birdie during the first nine holes. "There are a lot of positives for this week," said the Bridgend golfer, who has also represented Glamorgan and Wales at cricket. "I wasn't too comfortable, but I still managed to stay calm and stick to what I was trying to do. "I battled well and eventually found good rhythm with the putter on the back nine. "I felt I was going to make every putt I looked at and if I had had a little bit of luck coming in I might have made a few more, but that's the way it was." Elsewhere England's Danny Willett put together a fine fourth round of 68 to finish sixth on 11 under.
