Rosie Jones to captain US in 2011 Solheim Cup

Jones has scored 12 points in seven Solheim Cups

Rosie Jones has been appointed captain for the US Solheim Cup side for 2011.

The US are aiming to secure a fourth consecutive title against Europe in the 23-25 September event at Killeen Castle in County Meath, Ireland.

Jones, who has played in seven Solheim Cups and sunk the winning putt in 2002, said: "I am honoured and absolutely ecstatic to be chosen as captain.

"The Solheim Cup has been a huge part of my career as a player," added the winner of 13 PGLA Tour championships.

America have a strong lead in the series over Europe, having won eight titles to Europe's three.

And Jones has formidable experience, having scored 12 points in seven appearances at the Solheim Cup.
