Martin was the European Tour's first amateur winner two years ago
Pablo Martin enjoyed a massive slice of luck as he carved out a two-shot lead on the third day of the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa.
Martin was five clear at one point but after double-bogeying the 14th, he went through the green at the par-five 18th.
The ball went over a bridge and was stopped from going into the water by some rocks allowing the 23-year-old Spaniard to save par for a 71.
He is on 14 under par, two clear of Ernie Els and Charl Schwartzel.
Home favourite Els, winner here in 2005, looked to be heading out of contention as he combined four birdies with four bogeys and then a double bogey over an eventful first 11 holes.
But he regrouped to card five birdies in the final six holes for a 69.
