Liverpool's Eloise Healey will defend her US Kids Golf European Championship title in East Lothian on Tuesday.

The 11-year-old reigning champion, who plays off a handicap of 11, will compete against over 400 children from 38 countries.

Ahead of the three-day tournament in Scotland, Healey has told BBC Radio Merseyside about her on course success.

"I've won the European Championships once before and the [British] Wee Wonders twice."

She added: "I've been playing for about four years since I was seven years old."

All we can do is support her, not get too hung up about it and make sure she has fun

The Childwall schoolgirl says winning last year's European Championships is the highlight of her career to date.

"I felt quite confident but on the first day I took an eight on one of the holes but I still managed to come back from that."

Healey practices no more than twice per week and only plays once a week as her father Steve says it is important that she has a normal childhood.

"She's done well, she likes competition and she loves her sports. All we can do is support her, not get too hung up about it and make sure she has fun," he said.
