McDowell exits after shooting 77

Graeme McDowell was three shots shy of the cut at Sawgrass

Graeme McDowell failed to make the third-round cut at the Players Championship after struggling to a five-over-par 77 on Saturday.

The Portrush player suffered double-bogeys at the 14th and 17th holes to go along with four bogeys and three birdies to finish on five over.

Padraig Harrington ended on two over after a 72 in Sunday's final round.

Holywood's Rory McIlroy missed the halfway cut after a 77 left him on seven over.
