Gareth Maybin led after an opening 64 in Turin
Gareth Maybin will go into the final round of the Italian Open in Turin two shots behind leader Daniel Vancsik.
Vancsik shot a 69 to lead on 11 under despite two late bogeys after a two-hour suspension caused by lightning.
Maybin lost ground by double-bogeying the 16th after the interruption but he regrouped to birdie the 17th.
Michael McGeady shot a 68 to improve to six under although the Derryman dropped two late shots while Jonathan Caldwell slipped to one over after a 75.
Argentine Vancsik leads Finland's Roppe Kakko by a shot with Maybin joined on nine under by South African Thomas Aiken.
Maybin was 10 under but in trouble on the 16th as he was in a greenside bunker in three on the par-four hole as the hooter sounded.
When played restarted, he took three more shots to complete the hole but he responded superbly by picking up a birdie at the penultimate hole.
Before the interruption, Maybin produced steady play over his opening 15 holes as he picked up birdies on the ninth and 13th and parred all the other holes.
Caldwell looked set for a reasonable round but he hopes of earning a decent cheque were wrecked as he carded successive double-bogeys on the 15th and 16th.
McGeady carded his second consecutive 68 to move to six under but he would have been a lot closer than five off the lead had he not bogeyed the 13th and 16th.
Gary Murphy was on one under after firing a 70 on Saturday.
