Former Masters champion Zach Johnson started the third round nine shots off the lead but managed to shoot a 68 to ensure he plays in the final group with O'Hair and Woods.
O'Hair and Woods were part of a five-way tie after 54 holes last year, with Woods winning on the last hole thanks to a 25-foot birdie.
Irishman Padraig Harrington fell off the pace with a round of three over to leave him one over par.
