Villegas led all the way in St Louis as be broke his PGA Tour duck

Camilo Villegas shot a final-round 68 to win the BMW Championship in St Louis by two strokes and claim his maiden win on the PGA Tour.

The 26-year-old, who had led from the first round, finished on 15 under par.

The Colombian started the final round with a one-shot lead over Jim Furyk but Furyk closed with a level-par 70 to finish alongside Anthony Kim in third.

Kim closed with a 67 while Dudley Hart birdied the final two holes to card a 65 and secure second place on 13 under.

"Oh man," said Villegas. "It was a lot of hard of hard work and it's awesome to be here. Hopefully it's the first of many."

Sergio Garcia ran out of steam and finished on five under, one shot behind Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson, after shooting 70 in the final round.

"I didn't play well enough this week," said the Spaniard, who has a week off before the Ryder Cup at the Valhalla course in Louisville, Kentucky.

"The course was very wet, very heavy on our legs and I was a little tired towards the end of the week.

"I would love to have played a little better, scored a little better and putted a little better but unfortunately I didn't. I'm looking forward to my rest."

Despite finishing 44th Vijay Singh has virtually wrapped up the FedEx Cup with one play-off event remaining.

Singh won the first two events and has earned so many points that all he has to do is complete four rounds at the US Tour Championship in a fortnight to collect the $10m (£5.6m) first prize.
