Clarke fires 73 in second round

Darren Clarke carded three birdies and three bogeys in his round

Darren Clarke stayed in contention in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles after firing a level-par 73 in Friday's second round.

The Dungannon star, who is making a late push for a Ryder Cup wildcard selection, lies one under at halfway and six behind leader Gregory Havret.

Holywood's Rory McIlroy was one shot outside the cut mark after a 74 left him on three over.

Portrush player Graeme McDowell is five over after a 73 and missed the cut.

Dubliner Paul McGinley is one under after a 69.

Gary Murphy (73) is two over with Peter Lawrie (74) three over and Damien McGrane a further shot back after a 72 both missing out on the final two rounds.
