Darren Clarke made a decent start with a 72 at Gleneagles

Darren Clarke continued his late push for a Ryder Cup wildcard selection by making a solid start to the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.
Clarke, following on from his victory at the KLM Open, carded a one-under round of 72 on Thursday.
Rory McIlroy opened with a 76 while Graeme McDowell had a 78.
Clarke is hoping to be one of European captain Nick Faldo's two wildcard selections in the Ryder Cup team which will be revealed on Sunday night.
Ireland's Gary Murphy and Peter Lawrie are on two over par after rounds of 75, while Paul McGinley shot 76 and Damien McGrane 78.
