European Ryder Cup team - Graeme McDowell
Graeme McDowell
Country: Northern Ireland
Age: 29
Caps: 0

McDowell all but sealed his spot with victory at the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond the week before the Open Championship in July.

"G Mac" also won the Ballantine's Championship in Korea in March and placed third in the European Open.

The former amateur star from Portrush won on only his fourth European Tour start as a professional in 2002, added another victory in Italy in 2004 and just missed out on a first Ryder Cup cap the same year.

Before turning pro, McDowell played a prominent role in Great Britain and Ireland’s retention of the Walker Cup in 2001 at Sea Island in Georgia.

At the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) he was ranked top collegiate golfer in the United States and won six of 12 starts with a stroke average of 69.6 – beating the previous best returned by Luke Donald and Tiger Woods.
