Japan's Yuri Fudoh and Korean Ji-Yai Shin are the co-leaders of the Women's British Open after the pair both hit second-round 68s to move to 10 under.

First-round leader Juli Inkster is one shot further back at Sunningdale while world number one and defending champion Lorena Ochoa sits three off the lead.

Sweden's Annika Sorenstam looked in trouble after three bogies on the front nine but rallied to make the cut.

Meanwhile, American Laura Diaz equalled a women's record with three eagles.

It is only the third time in women's golf that the feat has been achieved in a single round.

Diaz hit a fairway wood to three feet and a four-iron to 30 feet on the 1st and 10th and then pitched in from 56 yards for a two on the 322-yard 11th.

She led when that went in but three bogeys followed and, having earlier had a double bogey and two bogeys, slipped down the Sunningdale leaderboard to six under, four shots off the lead.

606: DEBATE

"I'm definitely going to just focus on the positive and stick with the excitement of the eagles," she said.

In windy conditions 10-time major winner Sorenstam was in real danger of making an early exit when she had a hat-trick of bogeys on holes 5, 6 and 7.

They made it look like the 37-year-old Swede, who is retiring at the end of the season, had played her last round of major golf but she battled back with three successive birdies around the turn before dropping another shot on the 425-yard 17th.

"You don't want to know what I was thinking on the 9th tee," Sorenstam said. "But the bottom line is that I never give up.

"I talk to myself, sometimes kindly and sometimes not so kindly. I have pride and I know what I am capable of.

"I know I am slipping away, but in my head I'm as good as I've ever been. For me it's more about keeping on fighting, all or nothing through thick or thin."

Laura Davies was another sweating after a triple bogey seven on the 17th and a three-putt bogey at the last sent her tumbling to one over but her second-round 75 was enough for her to make the cut.

Fellow Briton Karen Stupples, winner on the course in 2004, bogeyed the last two holes, but was still in contention on four under.
