Dixon savours his dramatic win in St Omer, France
England's David Dixon carded a superb five-under-par 66 to earn victory in the Saint-Omer Open, finishing one shot ahead of Christian Nilsson.
"I played very well and I was very calm on the last few holes which was surprising," said Dixon, from Somerset, after his maiden European Tour win.
"I hit it close all day and then they started to roll in for that run of birdies and I holed good ones.
"It's going to take a while to sink in - it's a massive win for me."
Dixon's passage to the top of the leaderboard was aided by slip-ups from Swede Nilsson, who was two shots clear going into Sunday's final round and whose level-par 71 proved insufficient.
Nilsson did manage to equal the course record on the second day with a seven-under 64, but he hit three bogeys on the back nine as the pressure increased.
He needed to chip in on the 18th to force a play-off but fell just short, handing Dixon an unlikely win.
The 31-year-old shot a six-over 77 on the first day but stormed back into contention with 67 and 69 before Sunday's dramatic finish.
