Eales set to defend Manx Classic

Paul Eales
Eales was a regular on the European Tour for more than 10 years

Former European Tour golfer and BBC summariser Paul Eales has said he is prepared to defend his Manx Golf Classic title at Castletown next week.

Eales, 44, said: "How can I fail to enjoy one of the most famous links in the world?"

"It's a stunning place and I'm not surprised the event has attracted such a big field this year.

"I'm playing well enough to hold on to my title providing I keep off the beach at the fifth."

The testing Road Hole has additional hazards this year with an extra 22 strategically placed bunkers and hardened faster greens.

Since its inception in 1981 the three-day Manx Golf Classic has been regularly listed as one of the British Isles' biggest pro-ams.
