Scottish golfer Barclay Howard, diagnosed with leukaemia shortly after the 1997 Walker Cup match in the USA, has died at the age of 55.
Despite battling with alcoholism, Howard was one of the most feared and respected competitors on the amateur circuit for decades.
He starred on the Open Championship stage at Troon 11 years ago.
Howard was on the leaderboard after an opening 70 and was the only amateur to survive the halfway cut.
