Aussie quartet qualify for Open
Andrew Tampion
Tampion won the event at The Lakes by three shots from his rivals
Australians Andrew Tampion, Brad Lamb, Ewan Porter and Peter Fowler all secured places for The Open at the Australasian qualifying tournament.

The four will play at Royal Birkdale in July after a one day, 36-hole event at The Lakes in Sydney.

"I love playing in the Open. It's the tournament to be in and if you're not in it, it's really sad," said Fowler.

But 16-year-old Japanese sensation Ryo Ishikawa missed out by nine shots on his professional debut.

Ishikawa shot to fame in May last year when he became the youngest winner on the Japanese tour at 15 years and eight months at the Munsingwear Open KSB Cup, while still an amateur.

The Australasian leg was the second of five international qualifying events for The Open. The remaining three will be held in Singapore, the United States and England.
