Howell's round of 82 included a triple bogey and a double bogey

England's David Howell slumped from three shots off the lead overnight to a third-round 82 at a treacherous Augusta National on a cold and windy Saturday.
The 31-year-old began the day optimistically in a share of eighth place but ended tied 34th on 11 over.
Howell opened with six straight pars but after a triple-bogey on the seventh he soon went into freefall.
Jose Maria Olazabal also ended 11 over, while Ian Poulter was 10 over and Paul Casey and Lee Westwood eight over.
Howell, playing with countryman Justin Rose who ended in a tie for second, followed his triple with a bogey to go out in 40 before suffering further calamities coming home, tempered by a face-saving birdie on 18.
Another Englishman Paul Casey was right in contention, and watched as his partner Tiger Woods carried the green with his approach to 15.
Casey opted to lay up but saw his pitch spin back viciously off the green into the pond before carving his second attempt over the back.
He ended up with a triple-bogey eight and limped home with further bogeys on 16 and 18 for a 77.
"It was a big, big disappointment," said Casey.
Westwood, though, carded the joint second-best round of the day, a level-par 72 to match Woods, but was undone by his opening 79.
His round produced a remarkable run from the second in which he alternated between birdies and bogeys for eight straight holes.
