Phil Mickelson stormed to his third Pebble Beach National Pro-Am title with a final round of 66 on Sunday.

The American finished on 20 under to win his 30th PGA Tour title by five shots from fellow overnight leader Kevin Sutherland.

PGA Tour rookie John Mallinger was a shot further back while English player Greg Owen tied for fourth on 12 under with Davis Love III.

Owen's round of 67 at the Pebble Beach Golf Links included an eagle three.

Mickelson's four-round total of 20 under par equalled the tournament record, as did his margin of victory.

To come out on top and get '07 started off right, it gives me great momentum for the rest of the year

His round of 66 was all the more impressive given that he had a double-bogey at the par-three 5th after losing a ball with his tee shot.

The 36-year-old Masters champion had held at least a share of the lead since the opening round.

"I'm really excited with how I played this week," said Mickelson, who also won the event in 1998 and 2005.

"To come out on top and get '07 started off right, it gives me great momentum for the rest of the year."

Mickelson's Pebble Beach prize money makes him only the fourth player in US golf tour history to top $40m in career earnings.
