English duo Oliver Wilson and Phillip Archer have a share the lead after the Dunhill Championship first round.
Also on four-under par after rounds of 68 at Leopard Creek are South Africans Charl Schwartzel and Wayne de Haas and Italy's Alessendro Tadini.
England's Sam Walker, Scot Andrew Coltart and Ireland's David Higgins are in a group of eight one shot behind.
Ernie Els, aiming for a fourth Dunhill title, was well down the field after shooting a level par 72.
Archer and Wilson both had six birdies and two bogeys on a blistering day when temperatures reached 37C degrees.
Wilson, who took a 10 at the 18th in his previous appearance, managed to birdie the hole this time around.
He said: "It became really hot after the turn and I lost concentration.
"All I could think of was the 18th and I had absolute visions of it happening again. But it was fantastic to birdie it today."
Lee Westwood was tied for 54th on one over par.
The world number 53 had a wayward front nine with a bogey at the third, a double-bogey on the ninth and a triple-bogey on the par-three seventh.
Essex 18-year-old Oliver Fisher was one shot ahead Els and two in front of Westwood after a one-under par 71 on his professional debut.
