USA were horrendous, admits Furyk
Jim Furyk
Furyk offered no excuses for the USA's heavy loss at the K Club
America lost the Ryder Cup because they played "horrendously" and not because the team lacked motivation, according to world number three Jim Furyk.

The 36-year-old was speaking at the World Golf Championships event in Hertfordshire, and said he was insulted by questions about the team's desire.

"If you can't get up for the Ryder Cup you don't have a pulse," he said.

"We obviously got outplayed in all aspects and did a horrendous job. It's something we'll have to work on."

I got more jacked up for that than I could ever imagine getting jacked up for an event individually

Furyk said he was offended by people questioning whether the American team really cared about the team game rather than playing as individuals.

"I had a writer ask me point-blank on Sunday whether, in the whole scheme of things, it actually mattered to me," he said.

"Wanting to reach out and strangle him, I just bit my tongue, said 'yes', told him he offended me, and walked away.

"I got more jacked up for that than I could ever imagine getting jacked up for an event individually, maybe to a fault at times."
