The hole on which Thomas Bjorn took 11 when joint leader of the European Open last year - and perhaps sunk his chances of a Ryder Cup wildcard.
He hit three drives into the River Liffey, which hugs the left-hand side all the way from tee to green in a gentle bend.
Extra trees have been added on the right to make the bail-out drive
less attractive.
YOUR K CLUB EXPERIENCES AND COMMENTS
One beautiful summer day in the early days of the K Club, a member whose golf prowess fell far short of his business achievement hit his drive on this hole since made famous by Thomas Bjorn in 2005. Our man's customary hook left the ball perilously close to the banks of the Liffey. With no little courage he stood on the edge, took aim, and lost control.
Fortunately, his swimming was better than his golf and he extricated himself, wet, humiliated but safe. Then, to his horror, he looked into the glass-like water and saw the five wood. As befits a man of his daring, back in he went and retrieved his club - worth circa 10 euros on a good day. The 17th claimed another victim but not the club! David Coyle, K Club member
The 17th is one of my favourites because I think its the most picturesque and tranquil. The Liffey rolls towards you with a swan or two adrift as you make your towards the green. Pat Desmond, K Club ladies' captain
