Irish impact in the Ryder Cup

Northern Ireland's Fred Daly, pictured after his Open win at Hoylake, kicked it all off with the 1947 GB side in America.

Since then 16 players from either Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland have seen Ryder Cup duty.

They are: Harry Bradshaw, Christy O'Connor Snr, Norman Drew, Hugh Boyle, Jimmy Martin, Eddie Polland, Eamonn Darcy, John O'Leary, Des Smyth, Christy O'Connor Jnr, Ronan Rafferty, David Feherty, Philip Walton, Clarke, Harrington and McGinley.

And the contingent have made some crucial contributions.
