Graeme McDowell finished joint 21st at the Reno-Tahoe Open in Nevada after shooting a two-under-par 70 in Sunday's final round.
The Portrush player ended the tournament on 11 under, nine behind winner Will McKenzie of America.
Meanwhile, Paul McGinley's hopes of making the Ryder Cup team took a knock at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
McGinley finished tied 66th on 14 over while fellow Dubliner Padraig Harrington was joint 27th on two over.
McGinley, who fired a two-over-par 72 in the final round at Akron, is now in the 10th and last automatic spot for the European team.
Harrington, who has already secured his place for the K Club event next month, went round in 68 in the World Golf Championship tournament.
McGinley will aim to cement his place in the top 10 in next week's final counting event, the BMW Open in Germany.
