Not one of my favourite holes and possibly one of the hardest holes on the course. Many a good card is ruined here.
The standard target for this tee shot is left side of the fairway in front of the fairway bunkers. The tee shot for me is fairly straight forward. I aim over the corner of the right-hand rough onto the fairway.
If you mess up the tee shot, placement of the second shot is difficult. If I am faced with this situation I lay up in front of the bunkers on the left of the fairway and play a seven-iron into the green for my third shot.
But a good tee shot puts me in A1 position and allows me to use my five-wood over the mounds aiming right over the rough and away from the bunkers. The mounds on the right of the hole and the bunkers on the left create a bottleneck in the fairway. So the second shot forces me to be positive in my execution.
I am always weary of Farrar's Folly and try and avoid it at all costs. This area at the front of the green can add shots to your card as the grass is thick and can swallow your ball and club head.
