Darren Clarke has slipped down the Ryder Cup points standings
|
Northern Ireland star Darren Clarke has pulled out of next week's French Open in Paris.
Clarke has withdrawn from a number of events since 2004 to be with his wife Heather, who is battling cancer.
It was due to be only the fourth appearance by the Dungannon player in Europe this year.
Clarke's next scheduled tournament now is the European Open on 7 July at the K Club, the venue near Dublin which will host the Ryder Cup in September.
The Ulsterman is down in 26th place in the Ryder Cup points race.
Clarke finished 56th in last week's US Open in New York and before that missed
the halfway cut in the BMW Championship at Wentworth.
