Tiger tunes up with Tavistock win
Woods and Els share a joke during play at Isleworth

Tiger Woods led Isleworth to victory over Lake Nona in the Tavistock Cup - his last warm-up for the Masters.

The world number one shot a seven-under 65 on Tuesday, the best round of the day, to clinch the two-day tournament.

First staged in 2004, the Tavistock Cup is staged between two Florida clubs that read like a who's who of pro golf.

Isleworth were skippered by Mark O'Meara, while Lake Nona were captained by Ernie Els and included Ian Poulter and Justin Rose in their ranks.

Trailing 6-4 after the first day, Lake Nona got off to a good start on Tuesday.

The second day saw two-man teams playing stroke play against each other, with four points on offer in each of the five matches.

South Africa's Trevor Immelman, playing for Lake Nona, shot a four-under 68 to take two points off O'Meara and India's Arjun Atwal, who did at least gain a point by beating Immelman's partner Maarten Lafeber.

But Isleworth took control when Charles Howell III and Stuart Appleby swept Retief Goosen and Sergio Garcia.

Robert Allenby then beat both Poulter and Rose, although his playing partner lost to Rose and halved with Poulter.

That left Els playing for pride against Woods but he could only manage an even-par 72 to his rival's 65.

Els and partner Mark McNulty did, however, gain two points by beating John Cook, Woods' team-mate.

Isleworth finished the day 17.5-12.5 winners. They also won the inaugural event in 2004, while last year's competition ended in a draw when bad light stopped a play-off between Els and Woods.

The Masters starts at Augusta National on Thursday 6 April, although Woods' involvement remains a doubt as his father is seriously ill.
