Dodd rewarded by rankings boost
Stephen Dodd
Dodd has been in fine form
Stephen Dodd's second victory of the European Tour season on Sunday has lifted him from 103rd to a best-ever 56th in the world rankings.

Welshman Dodd, who won the China Open earlier in the season, beat David Howell in a play-off to clinch the Nissan Irish Open.

Howell is at a career-high 30th while Colin Montgomerie has moved up one spot to 53rd.

Fiji's Vijay Singh is back as world number one with Tiger Woods second.

Dodd could qualify for next month's US Open if he produces a good performance at this week's BMW Championship at Wentworth.

The Cardiff player needs to climb into the top 50 or into the top two on the Order of Merit.
