John Bickerton is targeting his maiden European Tour title after a round of 69 gave him a one-shot lead going into the final day of the Canaries Open.

The Englishmen, who has been runner-up five times, leads Stuart Little, who has never finished higher than sixth.

Both were nervy in the closing holes, Bickerton three-putting the 17th for a bogey while Little doubled the last.

Spain's Jose Manuel Carriles shot the lowest score of the day, a 66, to share third with Simon Hurd and Mark Roe.

Bickerton and Roe need top-five finishes to retain their tour cards and avoid a return to the qualifying school.
