England to hold US Open qualifier
Qualifying tournaments for the 2005 US Open are scheduled to take place in Europe and Japan for the first time.

Officials said that 36-hole events would be held at Ono Golf Club in Japan on 30 May and at Walton Heath Golf Club near London on 6 June.

The move is intended to encourage non US-based players to compete.

A further 11 qualifiers will be held in the United States from 6-7 June, with the US Open due to start on 16 June at Pinehurst in North Carolina.
