Singh replaced Tiger Woods as world number one

World number one Vijay Singh has been named European Tour player of the year despite not winning a title in Europe in 2004.
The Fijian was named PGA Tour player of the year earlier this month after winning nine titles there.
He topped the US money list with over $10m (£5.2m) in earnings and replaced Tiger Woods as world number one.
"It was disappointing not to win on European soil in 2004, but this award makes amends for that," said Singh.
Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez, who won four European tournaments on the 2004 calendar, was second in the vote taken by European golf writers.
Singh, the winner of the 2004 USPGA title, follows in the footsteps of four-time winner Colin Montgomerie and Ernie Els, who won last year's award.
"I spent several happy seasons learning my trade on the European Tour in the late eighties and early nineties and to be recognised by this Tour gives me immense personal satisfaction," he said.
