Australia's Adam Scott admitted his relief at winning the Players Championship after nearly throwing away a two-shot lead at the final hole.
The 23-year-old put his second shot in the water but then sank an eight-foot putt and described the hole as "a rollercoaster of emotion".
Scott said: "It's that kind of place where funny things can happen."
"It's got to give me a lot of confidence going into (next month's) US Masters," he added.
Padraig Harrington, who was nine shots behind Scott after six holes but finished just one adrift, was philosophical in defeat.
"I made a few mistakes at the start, but settled down mentally
and the putts began to drop," said the Irishman.
"It was one of those days where whenever I hit a good putt it did what I
expected it to do.
"On the last three days I made only one over 15 feet. I think I collected
them all up for today and had them all in one round."
His playing partner, Tiger Woods, said Harrington's putting was "phenomenal".
Woods, who had a 73, said: "You don't get to see that very often and to be next to it is pretty
impressive."
