Sawgrass - hole-by-hole
The 17th hole at Sawgrass in Florida
The challenging 17th at Sawgrass

Sawgrass is home of The Players Championship - widely seen as golf's unofficial fifth major - and features a world-famous signature hole - the island green 17th.

st, 392 yards, par 4: Accuracy from the tee is vital on this slight dog leg right. Being brave gives an easier approach to the long and narrow green.

nd, 532 yards, par 5: A relatively short par five, the green is reachable in two if the dense trees and water hazard are avoided.

rd, 177 yards, par 3: A middle to short iron is required for this hole which offers a real birdie chance. Two-tiered green guarded by large bunker.

th, 384 yards, par 4: A water hazard and bunker lie in wait for any stray tee shots. Undulating green makes the second shot a tricky one.

th, 466 yards, par 4: The longest par four on the course offers a massive test. Sand traps and palm trees protect a narrow and rolling green.

th, 393 yards, par 4:. Tee shots that miss their target will leave players with uneven and awkward lies. Fairway bunkers and water also lie in wait.

th, 442 yards, par 4: An enormous fairway bunker running down the left is the main feature of this tricky hole. Three bunkers protect a sloping green.

th, 219 yards, par 3: Par will be a welcome score on the longest par three on the course. Green protected by a host of sand and grass bunkers.

th, 583 yards, par 5: Position is vital from the tee to ease the second shot. The thin green severely slopes from front to back, and a large lake and bunker to the right collect bad drives.

th, 424 yards, par 4: A dogleg left which requires accuracy from the tee to hit a narrow landing area. Deceiving green fades away from the players.

th, 535 yards, par 5: Hitting it right from the tee gives the chance of making the green in two.Water and two large bunkers split the fairway.

th, 358 yards, par 4: Keeping right is key as a drive which is short or left could leave the flag unsighted. Small green guarded by sand and grass traps.

th, 181 yards, par 3: Water is the main feature of this picturesque hole. Three-tiered green severely slopes to the water on the left.

th, 467 yards, par 4: Sand on the left and deep grass bunkers on the right make this hole a real test. Large but undulating green lies in wait.

th, 449 yards, par 4: Fairway bunker to the right make an accurate drive vital. Green heavily protected on all sides by bunkers.

th, 507 yards, par 5: Many players will reach the green in two on this short par five. A second shot to the green must carry a large water hazard.

th, 137 yards, par 3: This signature island hole is one of the most recognisable in golf. Championship could be won or lost here.

th, 447 yards, par 4: Water guards the fairway all the way down the left on this superb closing hole. Single bunker will catch long second shots.
