Home favourite rookie Shi Hyun Ahn held off the chasing pack to win the CJ Nine Bridges Classic in Korea.
The little-known rookie made a final round 68 courtesy of a six-foot eagle putt at the last, to win with a 12 under total of 204.
England's Laura Davies tied for second place with three Koreans - Grace Park, Gloria Park and Se Ri Pak.
Davies hit seven birdies in an erratic final round, but saw her hopes fade when she bogeyed the short 17th.
"I was in between clubs and hit it heavy," she said of the penultimate hole.
"But it was also because I was trying to win. I reckoned if I could finish birdie, eagle then I'd have a hope, but bogey, birdie wasn't quite enough."
In the third round, 40-year-old Davies had struggled with shoulder pain, but had no trouble in the final day's sun-baked conditions.
"I had no problem at all," she added.
"It must just have been one of those overnight things when you've slept the wrong way."
Little-known teenager Ahn earned £125,000, and now has a conditional card for the US-based LPGA Tour for the next year.
She also gains an invitation to next week's LPGA Tournament of Champions in Alabama, where 32 players will be competing for £500,000.
Gloria Park made her move with an inward 29 in a course record 62 to set the initial target, while the unrelated Grace Park and Pak both closed with rounds of 68.
