Weather halts Volvo Masters
Colin Montgomerie braves the rain at Valderrama
Colin Montgomerie is defending his title at Valderrama
The second round of the Volvo Masters has been postponed until Saturday after torrential rain and strong winds made the Valderrama course unplayable.

Play was originally put back by four hours and organisers had to delay it further as winds gusted up to 35 mph.

The rain continued to fall in the afternoon and play was eventually abandoned at 1400 GMT.

The tournament, led by Fredrik Jacobson, is due to resume on Saturday with the second and third rounds.

The 57-stong field will be split into three-ball groupings with a two-tee start.

The weekend outlook is favourable, with dry and sunny spells expected.

Sweden's Jacobson leads the European Tour's season-ending event by two shots after the opening round, having fired a brilliant eight-under-par 64.

Defending champion Colin Montgomerie, who shared last year's title with Bernhard Langer, is among a group of eight players on 71.
