Swedish superstar Annika Sorenstam defended her LPGA Safeway Classic title with a one-stroke victory over the veteran Beth Daniel.
Sorenstam has won five LPGA titles ths year
Sorenstam fired a closing six-under-par 66 to finish the 54-hole tournament on 15-under, two strokes short of her own tournament record.
The world number one was tied for the lead with Daniel and Cristie Kerr after Saturday's second round.
But Daniel finished with a bogey-free 67, while Kerr bogeyed two of the final four
holes for a closing 69 that left her three shots back.

Sorenstam became the first repeat champion of this tournament since Hall of Famer Kathy Whitworth won the first two editions in
"Obviously it feels wonderful," Sorenstam said after winning her fifth title this year.

Sorenstam will join Whitworth and Daniel in the Hall of Fame on 9 October, her 33rd birthday.
Daniel was disappointed to slip up at the last after opening her account with a course record-equalling 62 on Friday.
