Lancaster breaks away
America's Neal Lancaster
Lancaster hit his second consecutive 67

Neal Lancaster shot a second consecutive five-under-par 67 on Saturday to take a two-stroke lead after three rounds of the Canadian Open.

Lancaster collected five birdies to push his 54-hole score at the Angus Glen Golf Club to a 16-under-par 200.

I'm starting to understand you don't have to be perfect to win - you have to play smart
Neal Lancaster

The American, who has not won a USPGA tour in eight years, has made just one bogey all week.

He said: "I scored well again and today I finally struck the ball well but I was a little disappointed. I actually missed a short putt on the last hole.

"I could have put a big gap between me and second place. I felt like I could have legitimately got it to 20-under today."

Australia's Greg Chalmers is two shots behind after firing a 65 as he seeks his first win on North American soil.

His round featured two eagles, five birdies and two bogeys.

"It's my first time in the last group on a Sunday, and I really believe that I could be in that position more often, but I haven't, and that's a little disappointing," Chalmers said.

"But I've got a chance tomorrow."

Former Masters champion Vijay Singh of Fiji and former British Open winner Justin Leonard of the United States were among five players tied at 13 under.

The group also includes 1998 champion Billy Andrade, who carded a two-under 70 after sharing the second-round lead with Lancaster.

Ian Leggatt, attempting to become the first Canadian to win this tournament in 48 years, struggled to a 72 and fell six strokes off the lead at 10 under.
