World Cup returns to Kiawah Island
Ernie Els
Open champion Ernie Els won last year's World Cup
The EMC World Cup is to return to The Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, South Carolina next year.

The $1m event, won last year by South Africa's Ernie Els and Retief Goosen, will take place from 13-16 November 2003.

The seaside course last hosted the annual two-man World Cup in 1997 and has since been undergoing alterations.

Architect Pete Dye built the course for the famous 1991 Ryder Cup and has been overseeing the changes.

The major difference is the layout of the 18th hole, which is being moved nearer to the Atlantic Ocean.

Dye said: "People always told me they wanted to see the ocean. Now you can stand there, shoot six and see the ocean."

Work is expected to be completed soon, with the course due to re-open in September.
