Sorenstam claims title
Annika Sorenstam
Sorenstam picked up her sixth title this year

Annika Sorenstam claimed her second Evian Masters title in three years after dominating the last two rounds of the tournament.

The world number one carded a final round three under par 69 in France to end with a 19-under-par 269 victory total.

The Swede started the day four ahead and eventually won by the same margin from compatriot Maria Hjorth and South Korea's Mi Hyun Kim.

Hjorth equalled the course record with a score of 64 in the final round, but missed a three-foot putt at the 18th that would have set a new standard.

But the day belonged to Sorenstam, who took her sixth title this year and pocketed a cheque of 205,000.

It was her ninth title in Europe and her 35th on the LPGA Tour in her eight-year professional career.

"I love playing here and it's great to win the title again," said the 31-year-old, who has totally dominated the women's game for the past two seasons.

"I'm taking next week off so I'm looking forward to going back to my home in Orlando and having a chance to celebrate."

Lancashire's Kirsty Taylor was the most successful British woman with a 70 for an eight-under 280.

She missed out on a top 10 finish that would have earned some Solheim Cup points, but she had the consolation of a 30,000 cheque.

Britain's Laura Davies, the two-time former winner, closed with a 73 and finished on two-under 286.
