Daniel blows record chance
South Korean Se Ri Pak
Se Ri Pak recovered from four shots down to win

Beth Daniel blew her chances of entering the record books as the oldest winner of a major title in the LPGA Championship.

The 54-year-old went into the final round with a four-stroke lead, but her game collapsed around her as she posted a six-over-par final round.

South Korean Se Ri Pak took advantage of Daniel's loss of form to win her fourth career major title with a final round one-under-par 70 at the Dupont Country Club.

Daniel shot a double bogey, four bogeys and no birdies en route to a 77.

Meanwhile, Pak had four birdies and two bogeys, finishing the 72-hole event with a five-under-par 279.

Daniel finished alone in second at 282, with Swedish star Annika Sorenstam third at 284 following a brilliant 65.

The 24-year-old Pak claimed her second win of the season and 15th of her career.

Of her four major titles, two have come at Dupont, including her maiden LPGA Tour win during her Rookie of the Year campaign of 1999.
